In a quite
pickle.
I remember that some months ago in a
conversation with friends, we were discussing some problems in the country and
the fiscal plan. I do not remember exactly how we started talking about pensions and scholarships from
schools and universities, but while we were discussing that issue
specifically, one of us complained that as it was possible that some
foreigners, in this case she was referring to Nicaraguans, they had more rights
that we Costa Ricans in our own country. I know very well that anyone can think
as they wish and we can also say whatever we
want because it is our right of expression, but it was a fact that she exaggerated. I wondered if she was being reasonable because I can say not all Nicaraguans rob the country. There
are many of them who work for the country and contribute more than some Costa
Ricans, on the other hand; One of us looked annoyed because it turned out that
her family is Nicaraguan. That moment was very uncomfortable because she kept talking
about ugly things of the Nicaraguans, at that time I did not know what to do,
however; I tried to change the subject so that we did not get into a discussion
but that was very difficult. The girl that I mentioned was so upset that she started to
contradict the other girl, which ended up being a problem between them. This same girl whose family had been
offended, seeing that the other girl did not know anything about
her family. She decided stand up and leave the place. So when the girl left, I
talked to the other girl who was in front of me and I
explained the situation, which afterwards she felt very embarrassed.
